Personal History: Duo grew up as an orphan in the colony V-08744 of the L2 colony cluster. It's unknown at what age that was. His earliest memories of living with a gang of other orphans, stealing and hiding to survive the mean streets of L2. The group leader, Solo, was the only father figure Duo would know growing up and took his name from him. Unfortunately Solo died due to illness and Duo was later taken in by Father Maxwell and the Maxwell church.

He spent some time living with Father Maxwell and Sister Helen. At one point leaving to live with a foster family only to be returned shortly after. During his time there, Duo had a mostly happy life. The Sister would brush and braid his hair and Father Maxwell would teach him the stories of the Bible, though Duo didn't believe in God, only the God of Death as he had seen more of death than Gods miracles. This believe was proven the following year when a group of rebels revolting against the United Earth Sphere Alliance used the church for shelter. Wanting them to leave, Duo agreed to steal a mobile suit for them and succeeded in stealing one. But on returning it was to find the church ablaze and Father Maxwell dead. Sister Helen died in the young Duo's arms. This would later be known as the "Maxwell Church Massacre" (which claimed 245 lives). Duo took the surname in honour of Father Maxwell and the church that was his home.

Some time later found Dup showing away aboard a spaceship owned by Professor G and the Sweeper Group. After being caught he decided to join the Sweeper Group and eventually became a Gundam Pilot under the tutelage of Prof G. Three years later, before Operation Meteor began, Duo refused to go along with Operation Meteor's original plan and attempted to destroy his Gundam but stole it under Professor G's prompting and went to Earth to wage war on OZ.

Duo landed on Earth and Operation Meteor began. This would be where the anime would start. See Here For More On Gundam Wing and the part Duo played.

After the events of the anime, Endless Waltz saw the boys sending the Gundams into the sun and a rescue attempt of Relena after she was kidnapped by Mariemaia. During this time Duo captured a Leo suit to fight Trowa, who had seemingly betrayed them to fight within Mariemaia's army. Duo then assisted Heero and Trowa to prevent a colony from being dropped on Earth but was captured to allow Heero to escape, though not for long as Duo quickly breaks out and meets up with Sally Po and Trowa. They all soon join up with Quatra with the Gundams to end the war. Once the fighting is over, Duo, along with Quatra and Trowa detonate their Gundams and go on with their lives.

Personality: Despite Duo's childhood, he remains an up-beat and cheerful character. The life of the party, so-to-speak. He had maintained his sense of humour and uses it to keep his fellow pilots spirits up, though tends to despair at how little humour some of them have. He cares very deeply for his friends and isn't afraid to rush to their aid in battle, often times at the risk of his own safety.

He is happy, charming and relaxed, almost always smiling and joking in such a disarming way that he could often be considered an idiot by some. It's actually a clever technique as he is often underestimated and not seen for the danger he actually poses. These masks Duo wears he can pull out as needed. He seemingly has one for every occasion, but the happy joker seems to be the one he uses the most often and is the most disarming.

Duo's childhood trauma's are something he keeps to himself. He hides who he was and the things he has done in the past, most of which cause him great shame (though others are a point of pride, like being an amazing pickpocket!). One of his favourite lines is that he may 'run and hide but he'll never tell a lie', which is a motto he lives his life by as much as he possibly can. Clearly lies of omission don't count!

For the entirety of the Operation Meteor, Duo wore a priests outfit and he sported his cross. Some could have mistaken this as him showing his religion here, but Duo doesn't believe in God. The reason for his wearing this outfit was as a reminder for why he was fighting. A reminder of Father Maxwell. It was revenge. All he did during Operation Meteor was so that other innocents would not have to die in the name of some stupid war, even if he had to kill to get to that end. After the war the outfit was discarded, but Father Maxwell's cross he would always keep around his neck.

Duo wasn't looking for forgiveness, as he knew he didn't deserve any. He wanted retribution. He wanted, in his own way, justice for the senseless killings of innocent people by armies who didn't care.

He calls himself Shinigami, it is also the code name given to him, along with the number 02. Duo believes that if anyone gets close to him, they will die, because that's his fate. All he had ever cared about has been lost. He fights as best he can to protect what little he does have, but is always waiting for the day the God of Death takes it all away from him again.

Key themes: Rushing in with little care to his own safety to save his friends. Revenge. Against those who hurt the only people he loved and the only family he had.

Main Motivation: To protect the lives of others. Revenge.

Skills: Hand-to-hand combat training. Firearms training. Handy with a knife. Had skills and knowledge with tech, computers (hacking), communication and computer-based work and piloting gundams, mobile suits and shuttles. He is a demolitions expert. Duo's speciality in MS combat is stealth and assassination techniques relying on the state-of-the-art cloaking and sensor-scrambling abilities of his Gundam, Deathscythe. He loves to tinker. As per his childhood he's a very good pick-pocket and handy with a lock-pick!

Notes: Since he was an orphan and has no frame of reference, Duo's age is actually up in the air! He could, technically, be older or younger than 16. His birthday is also unknown, just the date based on the assumption of his age! Though I like to say April 1st since it amuses me his birthday would be on a day he is legally obliged to pull pranks on people!
